Summer is perfect for something new. The Superior Cabinets Portfolio and Design team has been working tirelessly on developing four new painted finishes for the 2022 Summer launch.

FUSION CARBON

This is the little black dress your kitchen needs. A perfect matte black with a deep blue undertone. Is it more black than blue? Or is it more blue than black? You’ll have to see it for yourself. Either way, the Kitchen Design Experts at Superior Cabinets feel Fusion Carbon is already an instant classic.

FUSION ZINC

If you crave smoky charcoal shades, this is your color. Fusion Zinc has a very slight green undertone in natural light but mostly resembles a rich charcoal color. The design experts feel that this color will be perfectly paired with a warm brown like the alluring Early American Stain on Maple by Superior Cabinets.  

FUSION ROCKWOOD

Back when rich green cabinetry was trending, many homeowners who considered those colors worried they wouldn’t be timeless and tire them. This inertia was the inspiration for Fusion Rockwood. It’s green but dark enough that it would be difficult to get sick of or regret right away. The Kitchen Design Experts at Superior Cabinets feel this is a perfect choice if you want a green cabinet color with staying power.   

FUSION STILLWATER

Inspired by the turquoise from the meltwater that comes from glaciers, Fusion Stillwater is a brilliant blue-green. This new painted finish on MDF is genuinely inspired by nature. The design experts feel this finish will be initially popular for small rooms such as powder room vanities, home office desks, and laundry rooms.

INSPIRATION FOR THESE COLORS

As outlined in the 2022 Kitchen Cabinet Trends article by the Professional Kitchen Design Experts at Superior Cabinets, dark and bold painted cabinets were predicted to be hot in 2022. The trends started emerging in high fashion, fine furniture, cars, and other influential industries.

MATTE FINISHES CONTINUE TO TREND

Matte and non-reflective products have been cycling in and out of popularity for years. For example, MAC Lipstick launched the iconic color Ruby Woo in their Retro Matte finish in 1999. Matte finishes started trending in the car industry in 2012, made famous by BMW with their “frozen” paint jobs.

The COVID-19 Global Pandemic sparked something interesting about sheens, as high gloss cabinetry decreased in demand and popularity, as homeowners didn’t want to see fingerprints on their cabinets. Hygiene became a significant concern, and there was a push for anti-fingerprint surfaces and antibacterial Panels for cabinets.

There has always been a desire for matte, low luster sheens or flat finishes for painted MDF and Wood Cabinets. In 2019, Superior Cabinets redeveloped its entire wood collection to have a lower sheen top coat (10%) to align with market requests.

The Portfolio and Design team at Superior Cabinets seized the opportunity to develop these four new painted finishes exclusively in a matte sheen to keep up with this growing demand.   

COUNTERTOP PAIRING SUGGESTIONS

These new painted finishes on MDF will allow for endless countertop pairing options. There are so many beautiful colors and patterns available in Quartz, Corian, Porcelain, Large Format Tile [LFT], Ultra-Compact, and Granite.

These dark colors are all about contrast, and the experts feel lighter or white countertop finishes will be the winning category. Here are some countertop pairing suggestions from the Kitchen Design Experts.

FUSION CARBON

Aura LG Viatera Quartz and Silestone Eternal Noctis by Cosentino were the top selections.

FUSION ZINC

The resounding winners were Hanstone’s Italian Waves Quartz and Silestone Eternal Dusk.

FUSION ROCKWOOD

Eternal Calacatta Gold by Silestone and Desert Silver by Silestone were the best pairing options with Fusion Rockwood.

FUSION STILLWATER

Eternal Classic Calacatta by Silestone and Strato by Hanstone Quartz were the two most popular selections.
